Sejarah Ringkas HABIB SALIM BIN ABDULLAH BIN UMAR AS SYATIRI (Melayu)

Habib Salim bin ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar Asy-Syathiri dilahirkan di Kota Tarim, Hadhramaut pada tahun 1359H. Ayahanda beliau, Habib ‘Abdullah, adalah pengasas Rubat Tarim yang telah melahirkan ribuan ulama dan pelajar dari segenap pelosok dunia Islam. Beliau terkenal sebagai seorang ulama yang soleh. Ibunda Habib Salim, Syarifah Ruqayyah binti Muhammad bin Hasan Mawla Aidid, adalah seorang wanita yang solehah yang gemar beruzlah (mengasingkan diri) untuk beribadah kepada Allah SWT.

 

Tatkala beliau berusia 3 tahun, Habib Salim menjadi yatim dengan pemergian ayahanda beliau ke rahmatUllah. Namun asuhan dan didikan agamanya tidak pernah terabai. Sebelum umurnya mencapai 11 tahun, beliau sudah menghafal Al-Quran AlKarim. Beliau telah menimba berbagai ilmu pengetahuan dari sekitar 80 orang ulama-ulama besar Hadhramaut dan Haramain (Makkah dan Madinah).

Sekembalinya beliau ke Yaman, beliau telah menggunakan masanya untuk berdakwah dan menyebarkan ilmu. Beliau pernah tinggal 15 tahun di Kota Aden dan menjadi guru dan khatib di Masjid Habib Abu Bakar al-‘Adni bin ‘Abdullah al-Aydrus.

 

Pada tahun 1403, atas permintaan Habib Zain bin Ibrahim Bin Sumith dan Habib Muhammad al-Haddar, beliau bermukim di Kota Madinah dan mengasuh Rubath al-Jufri.

 

Telah banyak pelajar yang mengambil manfaat dari ilmu beliau yang tinggi. Beliau dikenali memiliki keikhlasan yang tinggi, akhlak yang mulia serta sentiasa menjaga sunnah junjungan Nabi SAW. Dakwah dan menyebarkan ilmu tidak menghalang dirinya untuk memperbanyakkan ibadah-ibadah khususiyyah seperti sholat-sholat sunnat.

 

Setiap Ramadhan, beliau menambah sembahyang malamnya sehingga 100 rakaat setiap malam. Kini Habib Salim mengabdikan dirinya untuk mengasuh Rubath Tarim yang mempunyai sekitar 500 orang pelajar dari pelbagai negara termasuklah Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapura, Tanzani dan Afrika.

  • Musyrif ‘Am
  • Pengendali Madras ( setiap hari rabu )
  • Pengendali Rohah ( Setiap hari Jumat sesudah Asar )
  • Salah seorang Guru yang terunggul di Rubat Tarim yang mengajar dan mengasuh di waktu pagi dan Maghrib
  • Menjadi rujukan bagi permasalahan Agama dan pembahasan Ilmiyyah
  • Pemberi Ijazah Ilmiyyah kepada Pelajar yang layak menerimanya (di dalam bidang Qur’an dan Hadith dan Fiqh)

 

Dalam pengajian beliau, Habib Salim sering menitik beratkan tentang pengajian ilmu dengan tekun dan amanah dan beliau juga menegaskan agar beramal dengan ilmu dan ikhlas. Tatkala menerangkan sebuah ilmu, Habib Salim mengunakan cara pendekatan yang tradisional. Beliau juga selalu akan menyebutkan kesimpulan yang terperinci (hasil) bagi permasalahan ilmiyah agar mudah difahami dan dihafal.

 

Selain itu, beliau tetap melakukan rehlah dakwah ke pelbagai pelosok dunia Islam.

 

Mudah-mudahan Allah SWT memberi kesihatan yang sempurna serta melanjutkan usia ulama yang digelar sebagai “Sulthanul ‘Ilmi” ini demi manfaat agama dan umat.

Brief History of HABIB SALIM BIN ABDULLAH BIN UMAR AS SYATIRI (English)

Habib Salim bin ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar As Syatiri was born in Tarim, Hadramout in 1359H. His father, Habib ‘Abdullah is the founder of Rubath Tarim who has produced thousands of scholars and students from all over the Muslim world. He (Habib ‘Abdullah) was a famous pious scholar. The mother of Habib Salim, Syarifah Ruqayyah binti Muhammad bin Hasan Mawla Aidid, is a pious woman who preferred seclusion (uzlah) to rightfully serve Allah SWT. Both his parental genealogical tree link to the lineage of the Prophet’s descendent if Sayyidina Hussain (may Allah SWT please be upon him).

 

When he was 3 years old, Habib Salim was orphaned by the return of his father to Allah SWT. But his care and upbringing of religion was never been neglected. Before he reached the age of 11 years old, he had memorised the Al-Quran Al Kareem. He studied various field of Islamic knowledge under the tutelage of around 80 notable scholars of Hadramout and Haramain (the blessed Mecca and Medina).

Upon his return to Yemen, he has utilised duly his time to preach and spread knowledge. He has lived 15 years in the city of Aden and became the significant teacher and the prolific preacher in the mosque of Habib Abu Bakar Al-Adni bin ‘Abdullah Al-Aydarus.

 

In 1403H, upon the request of Habib Zain bin Ibrahim bin Sumait and Habib Muhammad Al-Haddar, he settled in Medina and inculcated masses in Rubath Al-Jufri.

 

Every Ramadhan, he adds his night prayers up to 100 cycles per night. Habib Salim now devotes himself to flourish the prominent institute known as Rubath Tareem, Hadramout, Yemen. The institution has about 500 students from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Tanzania and South Africa. He also graces the madras, the grand weekly Islamic event known widely to the people of Tareem. As a prolific teacher and a fatherly preacher, many who sought knowledge from him graduated from Rubath Tareem, are now conducting open classes teaching Islamic classical manuals in their respective countries.

In his classes, Habib Salim often emphasizes on the seeking knowledge with patience, diligence and truthful. He also asserts the importance of acting upon the knowledge accompanied with sincerity. Whenever he elucidates scholastic issues, he adopts traditional approaches. He also describes and delineates detailed conclusions for Islamic scholastic issues to be easily comprehended and memorized.

 

On top of his hectic local scholastic activities, he does rehlah missionaries and travels to various parts of Islamic world for da’wah. He also participates in official and private Islamic functions and deliver numerous talks in various part of the Islamic world.

 

May Allah SWT grant perfect health and longevity to scholar who is dubbed as ‘Sulthanul Ilmi’ for the benefit of the religion and the ummah.

Habib Abdullah bin Abdur Rahman Al-Muhdhar adalah seorang ulama, guru dari Tareem, Hadramaut, Yaman. Beliau adalah seorang berketurunan Nabi Muhammad ﷺ, melalui cucunya, Sayyidina Hussein ibn Ali KarramaAllah Wajhah. Nasab keturunannya adalah seperti berikut: Habib Abdullah Bin Abdurrahman bin Muhammad bin Husain bin Abu Bakar bin Ali bin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Tolib bin Ali bin Jaafar bin Abu Bakar bin Omar Al-Muhdhar bin Syeikh Abi Bakar bin Salim bin Abdullah bin Abdurrahman bin Abdullah bin Abdurrahman As-Seggaf bin Muhammad Maula Dawilah bin Ali Sohib Darak bin Ali Al-Ghuyur bin Al-Ustadz Al-A’zom Al-Faqih Muqaddam Muhammad bin Ali bin Muhammad Shohib Mirbath bin Ali Kholi’ Qosam bin ‘Alawy bin Muhammad maula Som’ah bin Alawy maula Sumul bin Ubaidillah bin Al Muhajir Ilallah Ahmad bin Isa Ar-Rumi bin Muhammad An Naqib bin Ali Al ‘Uraidli bin Ja’far As Shodiq bin Muhammad Al-Baqir bin Al Imam As-Sajjaad Ali Zainal Abidin bin Al-Imam Husaein bin Al-Imam Ali bin Abi Tholib, anak Sayyidatina Fatimah Az Zahra, anak perempuan Nabi Muhammad ﷺ.

 

Kelahiran dan Kehidupannya

 

Dilahirkan pada 1972 (1391H) di Tareem, Hadramaut, Habib Abdullah dibesarkan dalam keluarga yang kuat tradisi agamanya di dalam masa di mana ramai pemimpin agama dan ulama menetap di kota itu. Beliau mendapat pendidikan awal daripada bapanya, seorang pemimpin dihormati dan ulama, Habib Abdurrahman Al-Mohdar.

 

Pada usia remaja, Beliau juga memperoleh ilmu dari pemimpin agama di Hadramaut pada masa itu dan kebanyakannya dari Rubat Tareem Institution, salah satu yang Institut yang tertua dan paling dihormati di bandar Tareem. Sebahagian daripada guru-guru yang terkenal yang beliau belajar secara meluas dan telah dilatih secara kritikal dalam Fiqh Islami adalah Allahyarham Muft Tareem, Syeikh Fadal Bafadal, Habib Masyhur Bin Muhammad Bin Hafidz dan Qadi dan juga hakim kota Tareem, Habib Omar bin Ahmad Al-Masyhur. Habib membaca banyak buku-buku tasawuf Islam di bawah Al-Maghfurlah Habib Hasan bin Abdullah bin Umar Asy-Syathiri (Allahyarham Rektor dihormati Rubat Tareem) di mana yang buku yang terakhir beliau membaca ialah Al-Wajiz, karangan seorang ulama besar; Al-Ghazali. Habib juga memperoleh pembelajaran rohani dari Habib Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Alwy Bin Syihabudeen dan beliau membaca semua buku-buku Imam Alhaddad.

 

Selepas belajar di Tareem dan bandar-bandar sekitarnya dan selepas kejatuhan pemerintahan Komunis dan pembukaan semula Rubat Tareem, (sekitar 1992) beliau mengajar ilmu-ilmu agama dan menghabiskan sebahagian besar waktunya di sana dan pada masa yang sama menghadiri pelajaran ulama Tareem.

 

Antara matapelajaran yang beliau baca adalah tafsir, ilmu al-Quran, Hadis, dan metodologi periwayatan Hadith, Fiqh Islami dan pemerintah Islam dengan kuat kefahaman dalam Mazhab Syafi’e.

 

Ramai pelajar mendapat manfaat yang besar daripada ilmu pengetahuan beliau yang mendalam. Beliau terkenal dengan keikhlasannya, akhlak yang cemerlang dan yang mengamalkan Sunnah Nabi ﷺ. Menyebarkan dakwah dan pengetahuan tidak mengalih perhatian beliau dari terus meningkat solat sunat itu. Beliau sering dilihat sebagai ulama yang rendah diri dan guru yang penyayang. Selepas pelajaran, beliau akan tanya pelajar tentang kesusahan dan masalah mereka dan berikan nasihat yang bijak. Habib dihormati dan disayangi oleh pelajarnya dan dipandang oleh rakan-rakan beliau.

 

Pada masa ini Habib Abdullah mendedikasikan dirinya untuk membimbing kira-kira 500 pelajar Rubat Tareem dari pelbagai negara termasuk Singapura, Malaysia, Indonesia, Afrika dan Timur Tengah. Pada masa yang sama, beliau baru sahaja bermula untuk menyebarkan dakwah di seluruh dunia. Semoga Allah memberikan kesihatan ulama ini rendah hati dan berpengetahuan yang baik dan panjang umur untuk kepentingan agama dan masyarakat.

Habib is an Islamic scholar, teacher from Tareem, Hadramaut, Yemen. He is a descendent of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through his grandson Sayyidina Hussein ibn Ali KarramaAllah Wajhah. His lineage is recorded as follow: Habib Abdullah bin Abdurrahman bin Muhammad bin Husain bin Abu Bakar bin Ali Bin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Tolib Bin Ali bin Jaafar bin Abu Bakar bin Omar Al-Muhdhar bin Syeikh Abi Bakar bin Salim bin Abdullah bin Abdurrahman bin Abdullah bin Abdurrahman As-Seggaf bin Muhammad Maula Dawilah bin Ali Sohib Darak bin Ali Al-Ghuyur bin Al-Ustadz Al-A’zom Al-Faqih Muqaddam Muhammad bin Ali bin Muhammad shohib Mirbath bin Ali Kholi’ Qosam bin Alawy bin Muhammad maula As-Som’ah bin Alawy maula Sumul bin Ubaidillah bin Al-Muhajir ilallah Ahmad bin Isa Ar-Rumi bin Muhammad An-Naqib bin Ali Al-‘Uraidli bin Ja’far As-Shodiq bin Muhammad Al-Baqir bin Al-Imam As-Sajjaad Ali Zainal Abidin bin Al-Imam Husaein bin Al-Imam Ali bin Abi-Tholib, son of Sayyidatina Fatimah Az-Zahra, daughter of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

 

Birth and Life

 

Born on 1972 (1391H) in Tareem, Hadramaut, Al-Habib Abdullah was raised in a traditional religious family at a time where many religious leaders and scholars resided in that city. He received his early education from his father, a respected spiritual leader and learned scholar, Habib Abdurrahman Al-Muhdhar.

 

At the age of adolescence, he went on to acquire knowledge from religious leaders in Hadramaut and mostly from Rubat Tareem Institution, one of the oldest and most respectable institute in Tareem. Some of his prominent teachers are mentioned below. Of whom, he studied extensively and was trained critically on Islamic Jurisprudence were the late Muft of Tareem, Syeikh Fadal Bafadal, the current mufti of Tareem, Habib Masyhur Bin Muhammad Bin Hafidz and the Qadi, the Islamic Judge of the city of Tareem, Habib Omar bin Ahmad Al-Masyhur. Habib read a lot of Islamic Sufism books under the feet of Al-Maghfurlah Habib Hasan bin Abdullah bin Umar Asy-Syathiri (The respected late Rector of Rubat Tareem) where his last book read before the passing of Habib Hasan was Al-Wajiz authored by the great scholar, Al-Imam Al-Ghazali. Habib also derive his spiritual learning from Habib Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Alwy bin Syihabudeen where Habib read all the books of Imam Al-Haddad.

After studying in Tareem and its surrounding cities and after the collapse of the Communist rule and re-opening of Rubat Tareem, (around 1992) he embarked into calling and preaching the religious sciences and spent most of his time there and concurrently attend the lessons of scholars of Tareem.

 

Among the subjects that he read were exegesis, Qur’anic sciences, Hadith, and methodology of narration, Fundamentals of Islamic Jurisprudence and Islamic ruling based dominantly on Syafi’e school of thoughts.

 

Many students who delved in his knowledge benefitted greatly from it. He was renowned for his deep sincerity, excellent morals and who observed the Sunnah of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ. Spreading dakwah and knowledge did not distract him from continuously increasing his supererogatory prayers. He was often seen as scholar with great humility and caring teacher. One of his concern and caring gestures is that after his lesson, he would stay back and ask his students about their predicaments and problems and spare them with some wise advices and persistent patience. Habib is well respected and loved by his students and is looked up by his peers.

 

Currently Habib Abdullah dedicates himself to guide about 500 Rubat Tareem students from various countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Africa and Middle East. At the same time, he just started to spread dakwah all over the world. May Allah ﷻ grant this humble and knowledgeable scholar good health and longevity for the benefit of the religion and community.
