Rubat Singapura’s Overseas Scholarship is a sacred trust (Amanah) designed to empower dedicated students to bring knowledge back to our shores.

At Rubat Singapura, we believe that the pursuit of knowledge (Talab al-Ilm) is not merely a personal achievement, but a collective responsibility. Our Overseas Scholarship Fund was established to bridge the gap for our most dedicated students—those who possess the intellect and heart to study abroad but lack the financial means to do so.
The Philosophy of Amanah (Trust)
This fund is built on the concept of Amanah. Every dollar contributed to this program is a trust from our community.
Therefore, we do not view this as a “grant,” but as a sacred investment in the future of the Singaporean Muslim community.
We seek students who understand that this support comes with a weight of responsibility:
- Sincerity (Ikhlas): To study with the sole intention of pleasing Allah and benefiting His creation.
- Excellence (Ihsan): To maintain the highest academic standards as ambassadors of Rubat Singapura.

The true measure of a scholar is not found in their degree, but in their service to others. A core pillar of this scholarship is the Return of Service.
By returning to serve Rubat Singapura for a minimum of two years, our scholars ensure that the “light of knowledge” they have gathered overseas is planted firmly back in our local soil. Whether through teaching, mentoring, or administrative leadership, our scholars return home ready to build the next generation of seekers.
What We Look For

The Commitment
2-Year Minimum: Students must complete at least 2 years of their program.
6-Month Progress Reports: Formal updates (Transcripts & Reflections) are required every semester to release the next tranche of funds.
Service (Khidmah): Upon return, scholars will serve Rubat Singapura to share their knowledge with the next generation.
Repayment Clause: Incomplete studies or failure to meet the service bond will require a full refund of the sponsorship.

The Rubat Singapura Funds Committee places significant emphasis on the authenticity, sincerity, and personal voice of your essay. The committee will assess:

Post-Submission
After you submit your essay:
The committee will review your application, including the authenticity of your essay

- You will be notified of the committee’s decision within 2-4 weeks
- If approved, you will proceed to the digital agreement signing stage
- If rejected, you may be offered the opportunity to reapply in the next cycle
Frequently Asked Questions (Scholarship & Bond)
Who is eligible to apply for the Rubat Singapura Overseas Scholarship?
The scholarship is open to dedicated students who have demonstrated academic excellence, strong character, and a sincere desire to serve the community. Financial need is a primary consideration.
Which overseas institutions are covered?
We prioritize recognized Islamic institutions and universities that align with the curriculum and values of Rubat Singapura. Please consult the Principal’s office for the approved list of institutions before applying.
Why is there a minimum 2-year study requirement?
Studying overseas is a significant financial investment by our donors. The 2-year minimum ensures that the student is committed to their path and that the funds are not wasted on short-term attempts.
What happens if I decide to withdraw from my studies before the 2 years are up?
Unless the withdrawal is due to a documented medical emergency or extreme family hardship approved by the Board, the student and their guarantor will be required to repay 100% of the funds disbursed (including airfare and stipends) to Rubat Singapura.
Is the "Service Bond" (Khidmah) paid work?
Yes. The nature of the role and the compensation will be discussed based on the institution’s needs and your qualifications at that time.
What happens if I miss the 6-month progress report deadline?
Transparency is a condition of the Amanah. If a report (transcripts and reflection) is not received, the next semester’s funds will be suspended until the report is submitted and reviewed.
What if my grades fall below the required marks?
We understand that adjusting to a new country is hard. If grades slip, we will review and assess your situation. If there is no improvement after that, the scholarship may be terminated to protect the fund’s resources.
Does the scholarship cover 100% of expenses?
This depends on the specific award. Some students may receive full coverage (Flight, Tuition & Stipend), while others may receive partial support. This will be clearly stated in your individual Offer Letter.
If I have to repay the funds, can I do it in installments?
While the bond states repayment is due within a set timeframe, Rubat Singapura remains an Islamic institution. We will review genuine cases of financial hardship to determine a fair repayment schedule.
