Mishkah al-Misbah - Shaykh Abdullah bin Umar Bamakhramah

This is a book-reading class based on the book, Mishkah al-Misbah (trans. The Niche of Lamps). The book is an intermediate text on the rulings of marriage by ash-Shaykh Abdullah bin Umar Bamakhramah. In this class, Mr. Muhaemin will provide insights into the meanings behind the words of the author in the book and clarify the legal structure of the chapter on marriage in Islamic Law. He will discuss the key juristic principles and rules, and contextualise classical rulings found in the text to contemporary realities. The text covers essential themes such as the legal definition and objectives of marriage, the pillars and conditions of a valid marriage contract, guardianship, and common invalidators of the contract. It also addresses the rulings of divorce and its consequences, and the obligations of the widower and the divorcee and during the iddah (trans. the waiting period).
